Job Description
The role of a caseworker is to work closely with individuals and families to help them overcome day to day challenges and to improve their quality of life. A caseworker is someone who can provide knowledge, expertise, and guidance to people who need help.
As a caseworker, you will be assigned to 1-3 families and will be responsible for identifying, supporting and monitoring areas where you can assist.
Examples of what a caseworker does:
- Help people apply for Zakat or financial assistance
- Speaking to social workers
- Educate individuals on their constitutional rights and obligations
- Helping people find a job or brush up their resume
- Arrange for transportation
- Arrange food delivery
- Finding affordable housing
- Speaking to landlords
- Assessing financial information
- Help create a budget
Qualifications
The ideal candidate :
- Has strong problem-solving skills
- Is organized and is resourceful
- Is up to date with laws, regulations and social programs (training provided)
- Is able to speak 2 languages (English/Urdu, French/Arabic etc)
- Is patient, compassionate and has a positive attitude.
- Never says “that’s impossible”
- Good communication skills are essential
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Commitments
- Typically 1 to 3 hours a week or as needed.
- Willing to travel and meet with individuals on a monthly basis or as needed.
- Participate in quarterly meetings with Hilm staff (online meeting or in person).
